My name is Abby & I am the mother of
the very special Eric Ryan.
There have been lots of ups & downs since his birth
but everyday is a new day. I cherish each one, knowing that
tomorrow is promised to no one.
I don't know why Eric Ryan was born with HPE
& at this point I tend not to question God anymore.
I do know that he is here for a purpose &
if it's not to grow & have a family of his own, then it's
to show others that God is real & miracles are all around us.
It's amazing how strong he is,
way stronger then I can ever hope to be.
I admire him for that & pray everyday for
the strength to make it through.
One day at a time, that's how we live,
one day at a time."
seizures & doctors were not much help. "Well
that's what comes with the condition" I was told
so many times. It was something we'd have to
get used to. Then one night in total frustration,
his father & I took him to Valley Baptist Hospital
in a town 45 min's away. I have to say that was
one of the best decisions we've made for him.
Eric Ryan is now being seen by an awesome
neurologist & his seizures have decreased to a
few a day, if that."
the beginning. From a short, but
difficult pregnancy, to an
emergency c-section to a 4 month
hospital stay. At the time he came
home I knew very little of his
condition. Sure my family & I had
looked up HPE on the internet,
but not much information was out
there & what was there was all
the same."

person who actually got
through to me about Eric
Ryan's HPE. She also had a
baby with alobar HPE,
Maggie. Silvia encouraged
me to get educated & thats
what I've done. I will be
forever grateful to her for
opening their lives to us."

heart. I also have a better
relationship with both my parents &

decides to take him from me, one
