Living with HPE

Entry for March 16, 2007
Much to my amazement, Ryan calmed down as I was washing him up & getting him ready to go to theropy. It was like he just turned the fussy switch off. We have about a 30min drive over there & he was calm the whole time & didnt really sleep. Sitting in the waiting room he sat nice & straight on my lap & only tried to arch his back 2 times. And even then it was a struggle. When I let him lay down he just had this silly little look on his face like "Ya I won!" I couldnt help but laugh. The session went pretty good. He was a little irritated when she put him on his tummy & really just wanted to be in the sitting position, so she worked with that. The OT also tried once again the Keniso tape to try & keep his thumbs from staying in. Last time the tape stayed on overnight & that was it, he rubbed it off. So far so good but his thumbs look the same to me. The 1st day they were out but now back in again. The OT didnt like his old hand braces we had from Texas, I really didnt either, but now they are too small. So we are trying other options. But I really think he's gonna need new braces.

But the past 2 days have been good. Big Eric & I took Ryan for a walk Wednesday night. He really liked it. The weather is awesome right now & stayed awake the whole time, about an hour. Then he slept good.

Last night I finally got involved with something for myself. Big Eric (& other people) have been telling me for so long that I need to get a hobby or join a gym. Since I was little I was involved with dancing & cheerleading uptil I graduated high school. I was going to do the same in college but wanted to take a break for about a year. Well one thing lead to another & lets just say 8 years after graduating I still hadnt gone back.

Well, last Thursday I took my niece to her 1st dance class. I was so proud! It was like she was my daughter, she did so good. Big Eric & Ryan went with us. As we were sitting there watching the lady incharge of collecting money & so forth for the academy sat next to me & we just chit chatted for awhile about the program. As I was watching I couldnt help but want to be young again. Well I told this to her. She turned her head & said "You know, we do have an adult class". I looked at her like WOW! So we started talking about it & what went on. It turns out they do alot of what the kids do just different dances. They have performances & even compete! On the way home Big Eric & I talked about it. He was totally up for letting me do this. So last night I went to my 1st dance class with Big Eric & Ryan there cheering me on. At 1ist I didnt want them to go, then I thhought about how it was at 8:30pm, it was dark & about 30mins away. I didnt want to drive back by myself. I was a little embarrassed because Eric has never seen me dance like this. There were only about 4 ladys there & 1 man. It was so much fun!!! I was a little rusty but hey for not dancing for 8yrs I was pretty damn good! Im so excited about this & very proud that Big Eric totally supports me!

Oh ya, Ryan also let mommy & daddy sleep all night. He must of known how exhausted his out of shape mommy was going to be!!!!! LOL!!!!

It's so nice to see that little Eric Ryan is getting to be a big boy. It is nice to see more updates about everyone. We had nice weather for 2 days and then it was cold again but the 2 days we did have Ryland had a blast being outside. Take Care and hope you keep updating, but I am bad about updating Ryland's site also.
